Goose Hollow Plaza also has community study rooms, workout facilities, on site laundry, and a shuttle bus directly to the PNCA campus.

Hello and welcome to PNCA.

Student Services is here to help you with housing, the Residence Life program, and many other resources and opportunities. Although we try to provide as much information as we can, the student will be the one to do most of the work of finding an apartment, and or applying for the Residence Life Program via the application and agreement provided here. Within the information below you will find that there is a variety of resources, including the names and phone numbers of area property managers and apartment buildings, along with information about Portland neighborhoods.

PNCA does have a Residence Life program run by the Residence Life Coordinator, with the help of the Dean of Student Services; it is PNCA’s off-campus housing. The Residence Life program includes 4 live-in Resident Assistants (RAs) who provide monthly programming, as well as conflict resolution and roommate conflict assistance. All students are welcome to apply, and all incoming freshman are guaranteed a place if they apply for housing before August 1.

Please call us at 503.821.8902 and speak with the Student Services and Residence Life Coordinator if you want additional information or assistance.

Housing Northwest (HNW)

www.chnw.org

We are pleased to offer student residence in the Plaza building of Housing Northwest’s (HNW) Goose Hollow complex, just a mile from the campus. Students have the option of renting their own private room in a two-bedroom unit or to share a room with another PNCA student. The resident student apartments are carpeted, newer two bedroom units, which are furnished. Each unit is equipped with a full kitchen and bathroom, living room and balcony. The units are leased for an 11 ½ month period beginning the week before classes start, and ending 2 weeks before the beginning of the next scholastic year on a first come first serve basis. Spring admits are welcome to apply in the spring and will be accepted on a space available arrangement.

Tours of two bedroom units are available by contacting Housing Northwest, and you can contact the HNW office directly to arrange a tour at 503-222-7105. Let them know you are with PNCA so that they show you the correct style of apartment.

Bikes: Portland is a great biking city; biking is a quick and easy way to get to school. Make sure you have a u-lock to help insure bike security.

Public Transportation: Busses and streetcars: Portland has a wonderful public transportation system. You can get on the streetcar at NW 10th and NW Clay (It is free if you get off at NW Glisan, and it drops you off 4 blocks from school). Go to www.trimet.org or www.portlandstreetcar.org for more information.

Shuttles: Goose Hollow offers a shuttle bus that goes directly to and from PNCA, and is no additional cost to the residents living there. Space is limited, so this is a first-come first-served option.

Utilities

Trash, water, and high-speed Internet are included in your rent.

If you want cable TV or a landline for a phone you will need to make those arrangements yourself.

The electricity will be on when you arrive, but you will need to transfer the account into your names (Two roommates, one from each bedroom, must have their name on the account) by the end of the first week of residence. The informational packet you receive during move-in includes directions on how to set up your electricity account with Portland General Electric.
