Charles Voorhies Fine Arts Library

The library houses a comprehensive collection of fine arts reference materials. It also holds books relating to graphic arts, illustration, and new media. The collection provides strong historical and contemporary perspectives on the visual arts.
In addition to supporting the College’s curriculum, it also serves the greater Portland community as a comprehensive center for fine arts research. The Charles Voorhies Library provides access to electronic arts databases, CD roms and Alexandria: The Internet accessible library catalog. If you are not a PNCA student, faculty member, or staff member, you may obtain borrowing privileges at the library only by becoming a Friend of the Library. The Library subscribes to over 50 current periodicals and also subscribes to the Art Index Full Text offering access to a total of over 377 art periodicals that can be accessed from a student's home. The Library has a collection of 200 total periodicals and a slide collection of about 67,000 slides supplemented with access to 77,000 museum created images that can be used for student projects.
The Charles Voorhies Library has a total collection holding count of 11,236 items including over 320 art and culture-related videos featuring a history of video art (collection from 1968 to the present), 1100 thesis works from the late 1950s to the present, and some special collections. A computer lab of 14 computers is available for research and writing during all building hours even after the library is closed.
