Rose Bond, Institute Director

Rose Bond is an internationally recognized animator and media artist specializing in time-based art. She has received honors from the American Film Institute, The Princess Grace Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. Her large-scale, site-specific installations include “Gates of Light”, Museum at Eldridge Street, NYC, 2004; and “Intra Muros”, shown during the 2007 Platform International Animation Festival and during the Holland Animation Film Festival in 2008. She is an associate professor in Intermedia at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. www.rosebond.com

Prof Dr. Suzanne Buchan

Prof. Dr. Suzanne Buchan is a scholar and curator in the field of animation. As Professor of Animation Aesthetics and Director of the Animation Research Centre at the University College for Creative Arts, UK, her work centers on interdisciplinary approaches to animation as a pervasive moving image form. She is the Founding Editor of Animation: An Interdisciplinary Journal, which provides an international, peer-reviewed publishing platform for animation that unites contributions from a wide range of research agendas and creative practice. She also served as Co-Director of Fantoche International Animation Film Festival from 1995 to 2003. Recent activities and publications include the Trickraum: Spacetricks exhibition (Christoph Merian Publishers, 2005) Animated ‘Worlds (Libbey Publications, 2005) and the Pervasive Animation conference at the Tate Modern, London in March 2007.

Paul Vester

Paul Vester is a pioneer in the field of animation. Primarily concerned with the language of animation, Vester combines different media and approaches to create work that is both eclectic and referential. He is the co-director of the Experimental Animation program at California Institute of the Arts. He was a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2003. His films include “Abductees” (1995), “Picnic” (1987), “Sunbeam” (1980), and “In The Woods” (2008).

Paul Wells

Professor Paul Wells is the Director of the Animation Academy in the School of Art & Design at Loughborough University in the UK. He is published widely in the field of Animation Studies, including the books “Re-Imagining Animation” and “Understanding Animation”. Wells is also a broadcaster, director and screenwriter who has written for theatre, radio and television drama, documentary and situation comedy. His most recent work includes “The Animated Bestiary” (Rutgers University Press).
