Monica Drake-Alonso is the author of Clown Girl, a novel, available in English and Italian, soon to be released in Turkish. Clown Girl was recently optioned for film by Kristen Wiig (SNL, Bridesmaids). Drake-Alonso’s second novel, The Studbook, is forthcoming (Crown). She is the recipient of an Eric Hoffer Book Award, an IPPY (Independent Publishing Book Award) and other honors. Her stories and essays have appeared in the Sun, Beloit Fiction Journal, Northwest Magazine, and Oregon Humanities Magazine, as well as in anthologies and various literary journals. She is interested in dark comedy, humanity, environmentalism, feminism, reproduction, the lives of animals, and the pursuit of a creative practice, all of which figure in her own creative work.
