$1 Million Endowment Created to Fund Scholarship Program at Pacific Northwest College of Art
Portland, OR – March 31, 2008 – Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) today announced the gift of a $1 million endowment by Ed Cauduro, art advocate and nationally known collector of contemporary art, to fund a new scholarship program at the College. The Ed Cauduro Fund for Pacific Northwest College of Art of The Oregon Community Foundation (OCF) will provide up to four $10,000 annual scholarships, beginning with two scholarships for the 2008-2009 school year and one in each of the following two years. The endowment will also provide approximately $5,000 annually for students to use in purchasing art supplies and materials they would otherwise be unable to afford.
Scholarship recipients will be selected by an advisory committee of PNCA faculty and staff and will be reviewed for renewal each year. In addition to a requirement that they have financial need, Ed Cauduro Scholars must maintain a 3.0 GPA and must demonstrate exceptional creative promise.
“We are extremely grateful to receive this endowment from Ed Cauduro, a man who has shown enormous creativity in his life as an art collector,” said Tom Manley, president of PNCA. “With the establishment of scholarships for talented students who might not otherwise have an opportunity to pursue a college degree, Mr. Cauduro continues to serve what he loves: the creative life and creative people.”
PNCA is committed to making its educational programs affordable and accessible to students through a comprehensive program of financial aid that includes grants, scholarships, loans and campus employment; 81% of the PNCA student body currently receives some form of financial aid.
The Ed Cauduro Fund for Pacific Northwest College of Art was established at The Oregon Community Foundation.
