Portland Nobodies Comic Anthology
The 2007 Portland Nobodies Comic Anthology (PNCA, cleverly) has arrived and is available in PNCA’s library for $15.
The second iteration of the anthology, ringing in at 98 pages, features work by PNCA students, faculty, staff and alumni including: Rose Bond, Ryan Alexander-Tanner, Jennifer Parks, Terry Blas, Casey Collett-Paule, Daniel Duford, Stephen Slappe, Tom Lechner, Gina Siciliano, Jason Hoffman, Aidan Koch, Neal Skorpen, Rachel Mendez, Bryan Fleming, Jordan Dalton, Christopher Young , Seamus Heffernan, Acey Thompson, BT Livermore, Elizabeth Meyer and Gavin Potenza.
The anthology was created in 2006 by a group of faculty, students and staff. Daniel Duford, co-creator and champion of the publication says, “We wanted the anthology to be held up against any other comic anthology. The first one came together fast and we sold a lot at Bridge City Comics. We distributed it to comic shops in town as well as London, SF and New York.” Duford says submissions were overwhelmingly increased for the second issue, with about half of the received work (selected by a panel of faculty, staff and students) receiving the ultimate honor of being published.
Duford sees the anthology continuing to grow and expand, saying, “This new issue looks great and it will hopefully inspire submissions… For the third one we want to have an outside juror choose the work, someone well known in the comics world.”
Purchase or peruse a copy at the library, and keep an eye out at Bridge City Comics for a possible release party in the next few weeks.
