This exhibition of internationally acclaimed artist Ai Weiwei features his iconoclastic use of Neolithic vessels, blue-and-white Qing and Yuan dynasty replicas, and a work that consists of one ton of “sunflower seeds” crafted from porcelain. This artist’s first solo museum exhibition in the United States makes its West Coast debut at Museum of Contemporary Craft.
Ai Weiwei: Dropping the Urn has been organized by Arcadia University Art Gallery and supported by the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through the Philadelphia Exhibition Initiative. Curated by Richard Torchia & Gregg Moore.

Known for his meticulously crafted ceramic replicas of household objects, Joseph Pintz discusses his reductive sculpting technique and muted glazes at an artist lecture on July 15 at Museum of Contemporary Craft.

Come see the results of PNCA’s two-week Intensive Print Workshop. The 13 participants in the class and exhibition include PNCA print faculty members, students and local artists.
Working in printmaking media, they have explored a range of collaborative strategies. Projects include wooden type broadsides, group drawings, collaborative prints and a deck of cards designed by the group.
Featuring work by: Abra Ancliffe, Zachary Combs, Laurie Danial, Carla Deal, Christine Donna, Yoshi Kitai, Caroline Locher-Stein, Palmarin Merges, Tom Prochaska, Junko Sato and Margot Voorhies Thompson, plus workshop co-instructors James Reid from Gemini G.E.L. in Los Angeles and PNCA Print Department Chair Christy Wyckoff.

Parents and kids learn to use everyday objects to think outside the box in a creative, hands-on workshop. Inna Alesina, co-author with Ellen Lupton of Exploring Materials: Creative Design for Everyday Objects, leads this engaging and interactive session.
Inna Alesina is an independent product designer and a faculty member in the environmental design department at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). In addition to the workshop, Exploring Materials will be on sale through The Gallery for $35.
Suitable for ages 6 and up.
Ticket info: Free with adult admission $3 and pre-registration.
