Climbing PoeTree
Performance from Alixa Garcia and Naima Penniman
Climbing PoeTree—artists and poets Alixa Garcia and Naima Penniman—have sharpened their art as a tool for popular education, community organizing, and personal transformation. Climbing PoeTree uses their art to expose injustice, heal from violence, and generate vision to help us all imagine a more just and compassionate world. With roots in Haiti and Colombia, Garcia and Penniman reside in Brooklyn and tour around the globe on a mission to overcome destruction with creativity.
Doors open at 6:30 pm
Performance 7 pm — 10 pm

Drive By Press
Drive by Press is a traveling van that is outfitted with a printing press and promotes the growth and democratization of art through printmaking. On October 16 and 17, Drive by Press will demonstrate relief and screenprinting, lecture on the history of printmaking, contemporary American printmaking, graduate programs in printmaking, and offer one-on-one critiques for the PNCA students. Drive by Press’s visit to PNCA is presented by the PNCA Printmaking Department with the support of the Oregon College of Art and Craft’s Book Art Department.
Times: 9am – 5pm

24 Hour Comics Day
Think you can produce a full-length comic book in a single 24 hour period?
What is a 24 Hour Comic?
It’s a 24 page comic completed in 24 hours, a challenge originally issued by Scott McCloud to Steve Bissette in 1990. Since then, 24 Hour Comics Day has become an annual event, observed by groups and individuals around the world.
To guarantee your spot at PNCA, send an email to Neal Skorpen (nskorpen@comcast.net) with your name, and the name and phone number of the person that will drive you home. All attendees must arrange to be picked up after the event and provide contact information for the driver. Hury, space is limited!

Halloween Festivities
All Hallow's Eve theme
All Hallow’s Eve is a Celtic event steeped in tradition that includes such things as; dressing up in an attempt to fool the spirits that’ve come back to visit for a night, big bonfires, reaping the harvests and much more. We’ll be celebrating up in the Student Lounge by making caramel apples, carving jack-o-lanterns, drinking cider and listening to some live music by Ghost To Falco http://www.myspace.com/ghosttofalcoYou’ll also have a chance to have your Tarot cards read by our own in house reader…Miss LeahJoin Student Services for some sticky sugary fun.

Ever wonder what the Dean of Student Services might wear for Halloween, or who that team of roller skaters in the cool T-Shirts are? You can find out.Join the folks of Student Services for a costume parade as we continue our Halloween celebrations. There will be prizes for the ‘best dressed’ and we want to see you there.
