Film Premier
Leroy Setzoil and Jack McLarty
PNCA and the Contemporary Crafts Museum & Gallery co-host the Portland premier of two films by The Preservation of Oregon’s Artistic Heritage Project. The first piece is “Leroy Setziol: A Destiny in Wood”. Setziol has placed more carved artwork in pubilc sites of the Pacific Northwest than any other sculptor of his lifetime. Shot in Setziol’s studio, the artist discusses philosophy and process through his use of tools and approach to the medium. The timing of this event is especially meaningful given Setziol’s death on November 17, 2005.The next, “Jack McLarty: Painting Is My Language”. McLarty’s work which is seen in many of Portland’s schools and civic buildings, amongst other public sites, is indepentent, personal and urban in its substance. The film explores his sketchbooks, prints, public pieces and his artistic process. For more information call: 503.223.2654
