TROCA BRASIL
First Thursday Opening with the Lions of Batucada!
PNCA’s FG + PS initiates an international cultural exchange with the gallery A Gentil Carioca (The Kind One from Rio) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The exhibition at PNCA features a large-scale, site-specific installation by internationally acclaimed Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto, in addition to the multimedia work of Marcio Botner with collaborator Pedro Agilson, Laura Lima, Thiago Rocha Pitta, and Marssares. The five artists travel to Portland to exhibit their work and deliver a series of student workshops and public lectures at PNCA.
Troca Brasil is made possible through exhibitions sponsors Holst Architecture and Guardian Management LLC with additional support from Willamette Week, Tonkon Torp LLP, The Mark Spencer Hotel and Plazm.
As part of the Brazil Exchange, six Portland-based artists have been selected to travel and exhibit at A Gentil Carioca in Brazil during Fall 2006. Congratulations to Bruce Conkle, David Eckard, Emily Ginsburg, MK Guth, Don Olsen, and Tamsie Ringler. Troca Brasil is co-curated by Feldman Gallery Director Nan Curtis and Elana Mann, independent curator.
Ticket info: Free and open to the public.
