Gary Bialke Memorial Exhibit
This exhibit was created to commemorate the life and art of Gary Bialke who passed away one year ago. The whimsical paintings, drawings and sculptures seen in this show are a sampling of both the personal and commissioned work done in the past ten years. In the realm of commissioned work, Gary worked at several studios including Bent Image Lab, Will Vinton Studios, and others.
Those who knew Gary, deeply appreciated his enormous talents as an artist. He was a bright light of creativity in the Portland arts and animation communities and beyond. He inspired scores of artists who worked next to him, many of who aspired to his level of creativity and skill. He also was a beloved friend to many. Giving away much of what he created, Gary was generous with his art. Luckily for those who today possess his work, he was also incredibly prolific.
The primary theme in his work is animals--dogs in particular. One can't help get a sense of the inner lives of his characters, fertile ground for the narratives we might imagine.
Gary's artwork remains for all to enjoy. This gallery showing is both a memorial for Gary Bialke and a chance for friends and the public to appreciate and enjoy his work.
This exhibit is sponsored by Bent Image Lab.
Ticket info: Free and open to the public.
