Career Advising Programs (CAPs) at PNCA are designed to meet the career needs of artists at each stage of their artistic inquiry and to facilitate student transition to professional or graduate work.
Because of the intimate size of our intentional community of artists, we are able to tailor approaches for each individual based on their unique passions, unique skill-sets, and unique potential. Our overarching mission is to help each artist hone focus on her or his wide array of aspirations and begin looking at the unique myriad of possible futures by:
- Demystifying the career-building process or pursuit
- Illuminating and creating pathways of success
- Instilling confidence through: professional and personal competence, resources, and practice
To this end, the office: meets with students, coordinates internships, offers workshops each semester and maintains a job board that is exclusive to PNCA students and Alumni at www.collegecentral.com/pnca.
Topics to discuss with our staff include:
- Career planning and development
- Finding and getting the most out of internships
- Resume and portfolio preparation
- Managing the business side of your artwork
- Graduate schools: Why? When? and Which ones?
- Documenting your work
- Investigating grants and residencies
CAPS is made possible by generous support from The Collins Foundation.
The CAPs Office is staffed by full-time professionals and is open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
