Transfer Student Admissions

Transfer students bring to the College a diversity of ideas, experience and expertise that stimulate creativity and growth in the classroom

Students with previous college credits are welcomed and valued members of the PNCA community. Transfer students bring to the College a diversity of ideas, experience and expertise that stimulate creativity and growth in the classroom. Transfer applicants must have at least a 2.0 grade point average from the last time they attended school on a full time basis in order to have their application reviewed. Those applicants with less than a 2.0 grade point average may have their admission reviewed if other submitted application materials merit further consideration.

Transferring Credits

Credits earned at regionally accredited two-year and four-year institutions accredited by a regionally recognized accrediting organization may transfer to PNCA as they apply to course requirements for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. We do not accept transfer credit from non-accredited institutions, but will consider on a case-by-case basis the transfer of credits from schools accredited under the category of trade and technical schools, provided the curriculum is similar in content, purpose and standards to the curriculum of PNCA. Credits from an institution, which is a candidate for regional accreditation, will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. There is no time limit on the transfer of credits.

Only credits earned with a letter grade of "C" or better will be considered for transfer. A maximum of 72 semester credits will be transferred. All students receiving the BFA degree must complete a minimum of 48 semester credit hours at PNCA.

Upon admission, the Academic Advisor, in consultation with the faculty determines the level of placement in liberal arts based primarily on the college transcripts submitted with the application. The transfer of studio classes is based on the college transcripts and a portfolio review. Students are required to show examples of the work completed in studio classes indicated on the transcripts. The Academic Advisor and faculty will consider the courses taken as they apply to the curriculum. Transfer students will receive a credit audit, indicating which previously earned credits will apply towards PNCA's graduation requirements.

For additional information please refer to the Transfer Credit Policy Statement found in the Academic Policies section of the BFA catalog.

Transfer Admissions

In addition to the general admissions requirements, transfer students must submit the following items:

Official College Transcripts

Transcripts from ALL colleges attended must be submitted. Request that all transcripts be sent directly to the PNCA Admissions Office. Transcripts that are faxed or marked "Issued to Student" are considered unofficial and will not be accepted.

Portfolio

In addition to the twelve pieces required for general admissions, transfer students are required to submit additional examples of their artwork if they have completed and received credit for studio art classes at another college. The additional pieces must reflect work completed in the art classes and must be submitted in slide or digital format. DO NOT SUBMIT ACTUAL, ORIGINAL WORKS TO THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE FOR TRANSFER REVIEW.
