Your portfolio is your best opportunity to show us who you are as an artist or designer. Show us the work that is uniquely your own, work that showcases your ideas, imagination, and talent. Your experiments and explorations are just as important as technical skills and process. Each work will be evaluated on artistic and conceptual content, design and composition, originality, technical skill and creative potential.
Your portfolio should be made up of 10 to 15 examples of your original creative work. This can include assignments completed for class, personal projects, professional projects, sketchbook work (optional). Show us your best and most recent work.

If possible, we recommend that your portfolio should include several examples of observational drawings, even if you plan on majoring in Photography or Communication Design. Essay Topic: Personal Artist Statement
View this essay as an opportunity for you to distinguish yourself from other applicants and to share aspects of your creative and academic passion that are not reflected in your portfolio or application.
Your essay should be between 2000 and 3000 characters (about 400 to 600 words). The online form will cut off the essay at 3000 characters, so check to make sure that the entire essay is included before submitting.

If you are considering Writing as a major, you will need to submit two writing samples in PDF format in addition to your visual arts portfolio. Samples may be in any type of writing genre (fiction, non-fiction narrative, plays, scripts, poems, etc.), and can be an excerpt from a longer work. Samples should be no longer than 5 pages, double-spaced, single-sided, with a 10 pt font and 1.25” margins. Please include your full legal name at the beginning of the sample.
