Dear PNCA Alumni,
We are thrilled to announce PNCA’s first combined Alumni and Faculty Exhibition. The exhibition is tentatively titled Holding Sway.
Throughout PNCA’s 106-year history, it has been our great pleasure and privilege to exhibit extraordinary work by our many talented faculty and alumni artists. The legacies of artists like Gordon Gilkey, Mike Russo, Sally Haley, George Johanson ‘50, Lucinda Parker ‘66, Manuel Izquierdo, Jack McLarty, Eunice Parsons, and others speak to PNCA’s rich history and enduring impact on the region. Electrifying work by more recent alumni and faculty such as MK Guth, Demian DinéYazhi’ ‘13, Mary Mattingly ‘02, David Eckard, Laura Hughes MFA ‘10, Pat Boas ‘98, and Jason Lee Starin MFA ‘11 (among so many others) continue that tradition of excellence. This exhibition is the perfect opportunity to bring the work of PNCA faculty and alumni together.
This combined exhibition was inspired by feedback from both faculty and alumni and takes advantage of the city-wide attention on the College in this, our first year in our new home at the Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design.
We invite you, our alumni, to submit your work for consideration in the exhibition. The application period is now closed. Please see the exhibition details below for more information.
The exhibition will be sited in the New Commons, the Atrium, and the Innovation Studio. We will also be looking to hold a series of public programs of alumni and faculty work to take place in and around the Mediatheque. These events - plus an accompanying exhibition catalog - will be key in showcasing the various kinds of works our alumni and faculty create.
The exhibition will present work from both the faculty and the alumni. Faculty submissions will be selected by an exhibition committee led by Mack McFarland, Director of Exhibitions. Alumni submissions will be selected for inclusion in the exhibition by exhibiting full-time and part-time faculty from across departments. Each of the exhibiting faculty members will select an alumna or alumnus from among the alumni who submitted portfolios. To be clear, one faculty member will select one alumni.
